Chandigarh:
Two criminals, one of them involved in a shooting incident in Amritsar, were allegedly killed in an encounter near Kharar, police said.
Officers of the Punjab police were chasing a gang of four, when they were shot at near Sunny Enclave in Karar, about 20 kms from here, Mohali police chief G P S Bhullar said.
In the ensuing shootout, two men were killed and two others injured, Bhullar said, adding that the duo were arrested later.
One of the slain, alias 'Topi', was involved in a shootout in May this year in which he and his accomplice killed a police constable who had tried to intervene when they were teasing a girl in Amritsar, he added.
