Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today to lodge his latest protest against Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.
Here are the top 10 developments in the story:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lodged a protest against the Lieutenant Governor declaring his government's enquiry into a corruption scam dating back to 2002, as illegal.
Last month, Mr Jung wrote a letter of complaint to Mr Kejriwal declaring that the Home Ministry had said the investigation into what is known as the "CNG fitness scam" was "legally invalid".
The Delhi government's response, through Mr Kejriwal's deputy Manish Sisodia, said that a court alone and not the Home Ministry can cancel the inquiry.
Mr Kejriwal contends that cases like these prove that the Lieutenant Governor works as "an agent of the Centre" to encroach upon the turf of his government.
Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit are likely to be questioned in the probe, media reports say.
The contract to check and issue "fitness certificates" for public transport using CNG was allegedly manipulated and a Rs 100-crore scam was reportedly constructed with the collusion of government officers.
The Lieutenant Governor says that Mr Kejriwal's inquiry is illegal and the scam is being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Branch. Mr Kejriwal has already asked the Delhi High Court to declare that the agency should report to him, and not Mr Jung.
The Centre and Mr Jung say that as a Union Territory, key matters of Delhi's administration rest with the Union government and its representative, the Lieutenant Governor.
The Delhi BJP has termed AAP government's decision of not calling off inquiry into the CNG fitness scam as "retrogressive and said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was "stubborn" in not accepting the special position of the national capital.
At today's meeting, Mr Kejriwal also discussed the issue of increased compensation for the kin of 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims.
