Protesting sanitation workers blocked the highway and roads in Delhi
Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday blamed corruption in BJP-led civic bodies for the ongoing indefinite strike by sanitation workers that has caused a garbage crisis in Delhi and alleged that the Modi government "wants to impose President's rule in Delhi like Arunachal Pradesh."

- The Chief Minister asserted that his government does not owe any money for workers who are on strike over unpaid salaries, but announced a loan of Rs 550 crores to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to clear dues till January 31.
- "Our only condition for the loan is please use it only for the payment of salaries," Mr Kejriwal said in Bengaluru, where he is taking treatment at a naturopathy centre.
- Earlier on Wenesday, large crowds of sanitation workers stopped traffic and dumped trash on the highway and roads in Delhi as they protested over salary dues, causing massive traffic jams.
- Sanitation workers of the BJP-led MCD allege that they have not been paid for three months and it is the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's duty to release funds.
- Over 60,000 workers have been on a strike for over a week. Their protests have led to mounds of filth piling across the city. Protesters also dumped trash outside the homes of AAP ministers including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
