The Supreme Court today said the CBI would investigate the Vyapam scam and more than 30 deaths allegedly linked to the admission and recruitment scandal. Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has been under attack from the opposition Congress, said he was "relieved."
Here are five points made by the Chief Minister:
There was a burden in my heart...I am relieved that now the CBI will probe and get to the truth
Congress has always demanded my resignation. They suffer from "Shivraj phobia."
If they have personal enmity, let them come at me. Why malign the whole state of Madhya Pradesh?
I could have easily said no to a CBI probe. This was like a trial by fire. That is why I wanted the CBI to investigate.
Although the (state police) conducted a good probe, some questions were raised and the Congress made allegations against us. I am hurt that in order to try and defame me, they are maligning the image of Madhya Pradesh.
