Pakistani terrorist Javed was captured after a 20-hour-long gun battle in Rafiabad.
Srinagar:
Less than a month after Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mohammad Naveed was captured, a second Pakistani terrorist has been caught in Jammu and Kashmir today.
What we know about the terrorist and his capture:
The terrorist captured today has been identified as 22-year-old Javed Ahmed from Muzaffargarh in the Punjab Province of Pakistan.
He also goes by the names Sajjad and Abu Ubedullah, interrogators have learned.
Javed was captured after a 20-hour-long gun battle in the Rafiabad area around 18 km from the Line of Control and 70 km from state capital Srinagar.
Army commandos used tear gas and 'chilli grenades' to flush out Javed from the cave he was hiding in.
Four other terrorists with Javed were killed in the encounter. One died yesterday and three were shot dead today.
Javed allegedly entered India with the four other terrorists through Uri in Barahmulla district in north Kashmir.
Javed's group was earlier intercepted in Uri, but they managed to escape. They were spotted again last evening in Rafiabad.
The Army said it launched a search operation in Rafiabad, which forced the terrorists to move towards a cave in the higher reaches of the Kazinag Dhar Ridge.
A "huge cache of war like stores which include four AK- 47 Rifles and two UBGLs" was recovered, the Army said in a statement.
After Javed was arrested he was sent to the Joint Interrogation Centre in Srinagar for questioning.
