A large number of people gathered outside Arvind Kejriwal's house in Kaushambi in Ghaziabad on Sunday, forcing Delhi's new Chief Minister to call in police for crowd control. Both the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police had to make special arrangements to manage the influx of visitors.
Here are 10 developments in the story:
While the Uttar Pradesh Police managed the traffic and crowd outside, a team of Delhi Police in plain clothes was stationed inside the Girnaar Housing Society where Mr Kejriwal stays.
A doorframe metal detector was also installed at the main gate of the society where Arvind Kejriwal holds his Janata Darbar.
Ghaziabad SSP Dharmendra Singh and District Magistrate SVS Ranga Rao met Mr Kejriwal and discussed security measures to be taken in and around the residential society.
Mr Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, however, made it clear that they have not demanded a security cover for the Chief Minister. "We have just asked them to manage the crowd," said AAP leader Sanjay Singh.
Mr Kejriwal too told the police that he does not require any personal security but asked the officials to take just the minimum precautionary measures required for crowd management.
"Around 12 police personnel would be deployed 24 hours outside (Kejriwal's) residence. Nobody will be stopped from entering the society. Our focus is on traffic and crowd management," said Mr Singh.
Around 150 people gathered outside Mr Kejriwal's house after he urged people during his oath taking ceremony to get in touch with him directly to address their issues, especially corruption.
Contractual employees of the Delhi Transport Corporation, people from the Valmiki community and teachers' association gathered outside his residence in Ghaziabad, where Mr Kejriwal worked on Sunday after a six-hour working session on his first day as Chief Minister.
