Terrorist David Headley is testifying before Mumbai court via videoconference
Terrorist David Coleman Headley, testifying on the 26/11 attacks through a video link from the US, today named Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence or ISI. Here are five big points from his five-hour deposition, which will continue tomorrow.
- David Headley named Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 attack and said he was motivated to work for the Lashkar e Taiba after hearing lectures by him. "I joined Lashkar in 2002 in Muzaffarabad where I took a course," he revealed.
- He spoke about meeting an ISI officer called Major Ali, who introduced him to another ISI officer Major Iqbal.
- He says two earlier attempts by the Mumbai attackers failed in September and October 2008. They succeeded in their third attempt in November, when 166 people were killed in a three-day siege.
- Headley says he took orders directly from Lashkar e Taiba's Sajid Mir, who wanted him to set up business in India and gave him instructions to make general videos of Mumbai.
- Headley has said he visited India eight times before the Mumbai attacks and once after.
