Humanity Itself is at Stake Here: 5 Quotes by Nobel Winner Kailash Satyarthi
New Delhi: Kailash Satyarthi, child's right activist, today won the Nobel Peace Prize. He shares the honour with Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 for advocating girls' right to education.

Here are 5 quotes from Mr Satyarthi, 60, on his fight to free thousands of children from slave-like labour:

  1. "If not now, then when? If not you, then who? If we are able to answer these fundamental questions, then perhaps we can wipe away the blot of human slavery," Mr Satyarthi has said in the past, summing up his philosophy.

  2. "I think of it all as a test. This is a moral examination that one has to pass... to stand up against such social evils," he said in an interview years ago..

  3. "Child slavery is a crime against humanity. Humanity itself is at stake here. A lot of work still remains but I will see the end of child labor in my lifetime," he has vowed.

  4. "I am thankful to the Nobel committee for recognising the plight of millions of children who are suffering in this modern age," he said today.

  5. "I am really honoured but if the prize had gone to Mahatma Gandhi before me I would have been more honoured," he said. Mahatma Gandhi was nominated for but never won the Nobel Peace Prize.
