Prime Minister Narendra is on a one-day visit to his Varanasi Constituency, to mark Good Governance Day

In Varanasi today as part of the nationwide 'Good Governance Day' celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced nine more names for the Clean India campaign. Among them were former police officer Kiran Bedi, former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, classical dancer Sonal Mansingh and stand-up comic Kapil Sharma. This is his second visit to the constituency after becoming the Prime Minister.

There were four organisations too on the Prime Minister's Clean India list, which included the India Today Group and the Mumbai Dabbawala Association.
PM Modi also picked up the broom again at lanes near the Assi Ghat on the banks of Ganga. The conditions at the ghat, he said, had improved much. On November 8, the Prime Minister launched the Clean Ganga Mission at the spot.
The Prime Minister visited the Banaras Hindu University, where he underscored the need to have good teachers in the country, since "this is a century of knowledge and India has a huge role to play".
He inaugurated an Inter-University Centre for Teachers' Education at the university premises.
The Prime Minister is also visiting the Diesel Locomotive Works on the outskirts of the city, where he will dedicate a modern, air-conditioned passenger train to the nation.
His first stop was at the Lanka crossing, where he paid floral tributes at the statue of Pandit Mohan Malaviya, the founder of the BHU, on whom the government is conferring Bharat Ratna, the nation's highest civilian honour.
Today is also the 90th birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose name has also been announced for the Bharat Ratna award. The government is celebrating his birthday as the Good Governance Day.
All MPs of the ruling BJP have been asked to be present in their Parliamentary constituencies to mark the occasion. "There is no bigger tribute to Atalji than celebrating his birthday as 'Good Governance Day' & pledging to devote ourselves to this cause," the PM had tweeted.
A number of Union ministers, including Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani, have been camping in Varanasi since last night.
He is to return to Delhi in the evening.
