PM Modi is in Riyadh on a two-day visit which is third and final leg of his three-nation tour.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Riyadh on Saturday from Washington on a two-day bilateral visit to Saudi Arabia, on the third and final leg of his three-nation tour. The two countries are expected to further their ties with a few agreements during this visit.
Here are the latest developments:
- "The reason for India's growth is its political stability," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address to representatives of the three million strong Indian community in the Saudi capital.
- "India's agriculture sector, manufacturing sector, services sector - India is progressing very strongly on all three fronts," Mr Modi said at the interaction.
- The interaction followed a visit to the Al Masmak fortress in Riyadh. His office tweeted images of his visit to the fortress, labelling it "an evening with history."
- An Indian Prime Minister is visiting the oil-rich Gulf kingdom after nearly six years. In 2010, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had visited Saudi Arabia.
- Mr Modi was received at the King Khalid International Airport by Governor of Riyadh, Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Al Saud. "Salaam Riyadh. PM @narendramodi arrives in Saudi Arabia to a ceremonial welcome, received by the Governor of Riyadh," Foreign Affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.
- On Sunday afternoon, PM Modi will be given a ceremonial welcome at the Royal Court by Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
- King Salman will also host a lunch in honour of the visiting Indian Prime Minister, followed by delegation-level talks and the signing of agreements.
- The two-day visit and three-nation tour will come to an end on Sunday afternoon.
- Earlier, PM Modi attended the 13th India-European Union (EU) Summit in Brussels and held a bilateral meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.
- From Brussels, Mr Modi went to Washington and took part in the Fourth Nuclear Security Summit hosted by US President Barack Obama in Washington.
