Indrani Mukerjea, who co-founded the INX media group with her husband Peter Mukerjea, has, according to the police, confessed to the murder she was arrested for two days ago - that of Sheena Bora, the daughter she had always presented as a sister. The police say they have narrowed down two possible motives for the alleged murder.

Here are the 10 latest developments in this big story:

  1. Indrani Mukerjea, 43, was upset that Ms Bora, 24, was dating Rahul Mukerjea -- Mr Peter Mukerjea's son from an earlier marriage. Police sources say they're looking at whether Ms Bora had threatened to disclose that Ms Mukerjea was her mother.

  2. Ms Mukerjea has been married three times. Ms Bora was her daughter from an earlier relationship.

  3. A birth certificate of Ms Bora has surfaced in Guwahati, which lists the names of Ms Mukerjea's parents -- Upendra Kumar Bora and Durga Ranee Bora - as the baby's parents. The police say it is fake.

  4. Police sources say the other possible motive they have drawn up is a financial tangle that involved INX Media, of which Indrani Mukerjea was the CEO.

  5. The tip off that led the police to Ms Mukerjea came from from a proxy in the INX liquidation deal. Proxies were used to channel the money back to the Mukerjeas after the liquidation process.

  7. The police say on April 24, 2012, Ms Mukerjea called Ms Bora to meet her in the evening in Mumbai's Bandra. When she came she bundled the young woman into a car in which her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna was present.

  8. It was Ms Mukerjea who strangled her daughter on the highway, as Sanjeev Khanna and the driver, Shyam Rai, held her arms and legs, the police said.

  9. Police sources said the body was kept overnight in a car parked in Peter Mukerjea's garage. The next day, the car was allegedly driven to a forest in Raigad on the outskirts of Mumbai, doused in petrol and set on fire.

  10. Ms Mukerjea later told family and friends that Ms Bora had moved to the US to study. Questions on her whereabouts were rebuffed with threats, said Ms Bora's younger brother Mikhael, the son Ms Mukerjea never acknowledged. Mr Bora said he had no doubt that he was the "next target" of his mother and that she was guilty.

  11. Indrani Mukerjea's second husband, Sanjeev Khanna, was arrested in Kolkata last night and was taken to Mumbai today. A businessman from Kolkata, he has claimed he was in Mumbai on April 24, 2012, when Ms Bora was last seen alive.
