IPL spot-fixing: Chennai hotelier Vikram Agarwal summoned, claim Mumbai Police sources

Chennai/Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has summoned Chennai-based hotelier Vikram Agarwal to appear before it on Friday. Mr Agarwal was asked to surrender before the Tamil Nadu Police on Thursday but he missed the deadline. His plea for anticipatory bail was rejected by the Madras High Court. The Tamil Nadu Police is now likely to take legal action against Mr Agarwal, say sources.

  1. Mr Agarwal, the Tamil Nadu Police say, has been active in betting circles and was the one who introduced small-time actor Vindoo Dara Singh to Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan. Both are being interrogated on charges of betting. (Read)

  3. The Mumbai Police will today seek to interrogate alleged bookie Tinku, who was arrested by the Delhi Police. According to sources, his interrogation is likely to throw new light in the case.

  5. Cricketer S Sreesanth's friend and event manager Abhishek Shukla, who was arrested on Wednesday by the Delhi Police for allegedly destroying evidence, was given bail on Thursday. The police allege that Mr Shukla had removed what they call "incriminating evidence."

  6. The court rapped the police for having taken Mr Shukla to Mumbai before being produced in court. It also mentioned that the custody was invalid since Mr Shukla had 'joined the investigations prior to his arrest.' (Track live updates)

  7. The Delhi Police claim to have recovered, with Mr Shukla's help, Rs. 5.5 lakh that they allege was paid to Sreesanth by bookies for spot-fixing in Indian Premier League matches.

  8. Cricketer Ankeet Chavan was granted conditional bail till June 6 for his wedding by a Delhi Court on Thursday. Chavan had sought bail on the ground that his marriage is fixed for June 2.

  9. Indian skipper MS Dhoni, who is with his team in England for the Champions Trophy, ducked questions on the spot-fixing scandal again, saying he will answer queries at the 'right time'. He also claimed that the controversy has not affected Indian cricket's reputation.   10. Former BCCI President Sharad Pawar had yesterday said that the controversy would not have happened on his watch. Mr Pawar was the BCCI president between 2005 and 2008.
