Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet took oath last year on February 14 after sweeping the elections in Delhi.
New Delhi:
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his ministers are holding a public interaction session today as Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party government completes one year in office. The ministers will answer phone calls from people, take their feedback and offer them a report card of the government.
Here are the top 10 points about Delhi's AAP government's first anniversary:
For two hours beginning 11 am, Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet will answer questions from people in a phone-in programme, being conducted from the NDMC Convention Centre in Connaught Place.
"Do u hv any Q from Del govt? I, alongwith my cabinet, will directly answer ur Qs. Call at 011-41501367, 41501383, 23346658 betn 11AM to 1 pm(sic)" Mr Kejriwal tweeted this morning.
The Chief Minister also said the government will also make some announcements, "which will benefit lakhs of people in Delhi". In another tweet, he said "Last year, on this day, Delhi fell in love with AAP. This bonding is deep n everlasting."
Mr Kejriwal had earlier said his cabinet will give an account of work done in one year to the people of Delhi. He has reportedly ordered various departments to give details.
In the afternoon, the government will inaugurate 20 Aam Aadmi polyclinics which will have out-patient departments for various specialities.
There have been other government events in the run-up to the anniversary, including the announcement of the second phase of the odd-even vehicle programme earlier this week.
On Saturday, while releasing a report card of the Delhi Jal Board, Mr Kejriwal said, "The government implemented its poll promises from Day One, something unheard of in modern Indian politics." Free power and water had been two of the party's key poll promises.
Mr Kejriwal and his cabinet took oath last year on February 14 after sweeping the elections in Delhi. It was exactly a year to the day he quit as Chief Minister after a 49 day-stint in power -- a move for which he faced harsh criticism.
Mr Kejriwal had apologised to Delhi for quitting and "Paanch Saal Kejriwal (Kejriwal for five years)" became both his slogan and a poll promise.
The opposition BJP, which has only three members in the 70-member Delhi assembly, has called the first year of the Delhi government a "Black Year". The party plans to hold a protest rally on Sunday. Over the last year, the AAP government has been in continuous tussle with the BJP-led government at the Centre.
