Here are the Ten Developments in the big story on Royal Visit:
The celebrities who attended the event at Taj Palace Hotel included Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Shilpa Shetty, Sonam Kapoor, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan and industrialists Anand Mahindra and Kumar Mangalam Birla.
The Duke and the Duchess had landed in India shortly before noon -- the first visit by the British Royal Couple.
They played cricket with Sachin Tendulkar at the Oval Maidan, met homeless children and paid homage at the Taj Palace hotel, the site of 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai.
Calling the meeting with Prince William and Kate Middleton "a wonderful experience" cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar said, "Nice to see that William knows cricket and can actually bat". Dressed in a printed tunic, the Duchess of Cambridge, too, took part in the game.
The royal couple had started their visit with by paying respects at the 26/11 memorial at the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai -- where they are staying. They laid a wreath at the memorial and spoke to the staff present during the deadly attack of November 2008.
The hotel, overlooking the Gateway of India, was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai in 1911.
On Monday, they will go to Delhi, where they will visit Raj Ghat in the honour of Mahatma Gandhi. On Tuesday, they will have lunch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Later in the week, they will visit the Taj Mahal, which Prince William's mother, the late Princess Diana, had visited 24 years ago.
To see how communities manage human-animal conflicts, they will also visit Assam's Kaziranga National Park, home to India's one-horned rhinos.
The Duke and the Duchess is on a seven-day tour of India and Bhutan, aimed at building strong bonds with the two countries.
