On the eve of the Independence Day celebrations, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the multi-layered security arrangements in Delhi and the rest of the country. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the chiefs of intelligence units and the Delhi police.

The meeting specially reviewed the security scenario in Kashmir Valley, which has been witnessing unrest after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani.
Red Fort, the 17th century monument from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on the 70th Independence Day today, and adjoining areas have been put under an unprecedented air-to-ground security cover.
500 CCTV cameras have been installed for monitoring movements - 360 of them will be located in the area between the ITO and Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation.
Another 190 cameras will be located at the Red Fort; 600 rooftops have been identified as sensitive and a census of 9,000 people living in the area has been done this year.
At Red Fort, a special team of NSG snipers and commandos will form the inner layers of the security cordon. Anti-aircraft guns have also been deployed to thwart any aerial intrusion by objects like drones and projectiles.
Besides special commandos, 5,000 police personnel have been stationed at the Red Fort; 2,500 policemen will line the route.
Vital installations in and around the city have been closed from August 14.
Though there is no specific intelligence input about possible terror strikes this time, the Delhi Police have made massive security deployment elsewhere in the city too.
A multi-layer security has also been thrown around Rajpath where a seven-day-long cultural festival 'Bharat Parv' is underway.
Aerial activities like para-gliding, flying UAVs and hot air balloons have been prohibited across the city till October 10.
