Here are the latest developments in this story:
A team of Goa Police's Crime Branch has reached Delhi to investigate Mr Tejpal and Tehelka Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury.
Ms Chaudhury has shared all documents requested by the Goa Police and will continue to assist with the investigations, the weekly magazine tweeted today.
Sources say the Goa Police has also asked Ms Chaudhury to submit her laptop, iPad and the computer hard disk in addition to the documents submitted by her.
The young journalist, who says Mr Tejpal sexually assaulted her in Goa earlier this month, said she will cooperate with the police investigation. "I will not obstruct due process in any way," she said. (Read)
The Goa Police has said it is confident the journalist will give a formal statement.
Mr Tejpal had suggested yesterday that the young journalist's version of events is not entirely accurate. But in an email to her sent on Tuesday, he admitted admitting a "shameful lapse of judgement that led me to attempt a sexual liaison with you on two occasions on 7 November and 8 November 2013, despite your clear reluctance that you did not want such attention from me." The journalist has not filed a police complaint. The Goa Police was instructed by the state government to investigate her allegations, which were emailed by her to Ms Chaudhury on Monday. That email was leaked to the press.
Ms Chaudhury has been faulted by activists for not reporting the matter to the police. "This is a violation of law," said Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaisingh.
Ms Chaudhury said that she disagrees with that assessment. "It is not my place to go to the police," she said. It is the young journalist's right to decide how to proceed, she said. (Read)
