Chennai: At least fifteen schools in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore shut down for the day after one school in the city received a bomb threat call which later turned out to be a hoax.
C K Matriculation Higher Secondary School today received a bomb threat call after which the authorities vacated the school and informed the police.
Police along with the bomb disposal squad after inspecting the school campus and that of an engineering college run by the same group declared it to a hoax call.
Meanwhile, hundreds of anxious parents rushed to schools to take their children back home after they were alerted by the school authorities via text messages about the incident.
Soon after the news broke out other schools also declared holiday in panic.
District Superintendent of Police, Vijay Kumar said: "It's clearly a case of rumour mongering by someone. We are investigating. It's a hoax call, our bomb disposal teams found nothing."
