Chennai:
A 19-year-old nursing student has been found hanging in Chennai's Stanley Medical College.
The girl, who was studying in second year, was found hanging in her hostel room on Monday afternoon.
Police suspect it is a case of suicide, but no suicide note has been found so far.
Police say poor performance in studies appears to be the reason for the suicide.
The young student was a native of the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, where two days ago, three women medical students were found dead in a well near their college.
A suicide note that they allegedly wrote described extortion by the management and the appalling lack of even basic facilities in the eight-year-old SSV College of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences.
The founder of the college, Vasuki Subramanium, her son Sowkar Varma and principal Kalanithi were arrested today.
