Bader Sayeed is targeting those who grant divorce to men without hearing their wives.
Chennai:
A lawyer-turned-lawmaker-turned activist from Chennai is the new face challenging the unilateral triple talaq divorce system, which falls under the provisions of the Muslim personal law.
Bader Sayeed is targeting those who grant divorce to men without hearing their wives - they certify triple talaqs without any judicial powers. She wants the Supreme Court to frame clear guidelines so that every divorce case will be adjudicated by the court.
"Let's take religion out of this. We are not interfering with the religion. I think our religion is fine," Ms Sayeed says.
Ms Sayeed is will appear in Supreme Court to plead the case filed by a woman from Uttar Pradesh, Saira Banu, who is challenging the triple talaq.
