Chennai: In an effort to promote classical music beyond the boundaries of elite gatherings, a musical concert was organised on the sea shore near a fishing colony adjoining Elliot's Beach in Chennai.

Organiser of the event, Carnatic vocalist T M Krishna said,"Access to all forms of music should be there for everyone. And that's the best way to get people together. People who don't normally get together are brought together." The experimental annual concert is into its second edition.

Enjoying the music, a fishermen at Urur Olcott Kuppam colony, Sarvanan said, "This is good for harmony among people and among art forms. It's a noble aim."

"Since all art forms are equal, even we children wanted to contribute. Boys and girls sang the traditional Vilupattu," said Deepika, a student.
