Chennai:
A fire broke out today at 'Ezhilagam', a government building in Chennai, but there were no casualties, a Fire and Rescue Services official said.
"The fire was noticed on the ground and first floors of the Ezhilagam complex. Ten fire tenders were deployed at the spot with a large team of fire fighters," S Vijayasekar, Joint Director, Fire and Rescue Services told PTI.
The cause of the fire was not known as yet, he said.
"There is smoke billowing out and a portion of the structure looks like collapsing. So we are positioning our men and equipment at vantage points," Mr Vijayasekar said.
