Chennai: Four kg of gold valued at around Rs 1.5 crore was seized and four persons who arrived from Sri Lanka at the airport in Chennai were arrested today for allegedly attempting to smuggle the precious metal.
Acting on information, Air Intelligence Unit of Customs nabbed the four, all Indians, who had arrived from Colombo by different flights, airport sources said.
Different quantities of gold, aggregating to four kg, were recovered from them, they said, adding the seizure was valued at Rs 1.5 crore.
