Chennai: Four men allegedly raided a house in the city posing as income tax officials and took away Rs 1.27 lakh cash and gold jewellery.
The four men, who were arrested today, raided the house of one V Arumugam, a resident of Panaiyur off East Coast Road.
The house owner got suspicious when the four men after the inspection told him that they were seizing the money and jewellery, police said.
He then lodged a complaint with police.
Investigations led to the arrest of the gang, police said, adding that a car and 12.5 soverigns of gold were seized from them.
