Chennai: A 45-year-old man was detained today by Air Intelligence Unit of the customs department at the airport here after he was found to have brought in two kg gold concealed in batteries.
The officials, during routine checks, detected the gold worth Rs 70 lakh concealed in heavy duty batteries used in automobiles in the baggage of T Ramesh, who arrived in a flight from Singapore, Airport sources said.
The officials detained him for questioning, they said.
