Chennai Rain: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Sends Rs 5 Crore for Victims

Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives and property due to the unseasonal rains in Tamil Nadu.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today sent Rs 5 crore to Tamil Nadu for relief and rehabilitation work as the state continues to grapple with incessant rains.

Mr Kumar expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives and property due to the unseasonal rains that have claimed 269 lives in Tamil Nadu.

"People of Bihar are with citizens of Tamil Nadu in this hour of sorrow," he said adding Bihar has been battling natural calamity like flood every year.

In a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Mr Kumar expressed confidence that the state would overcome the grief in her able guidance and leadership.

Mr Kumar had yesterday attributed the natural disaster in Tamil Nadu to climate change.

His deputy Tejaswi Yadav also came out in support of the victims of Tamil Nadu rains and announced to donate his first month's salary for relief work in the state.
