Chennai:
Over hundred students today staged a protest against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's visit in Chennai to give a speech at the Madras University campus.
Students belonging to Democratic Youth Federation of India, Students Federation of India, All India Democratic Women's Association and Revolutionary Students Youth Federation staged protests in various places in the city, police sources said.
They also shouted slogans against his visit contending an educational institution was not a place for any politician with a communal colour.
Mr Modi is scheduled to give a lecture organised by Palkhivala Foundation at the Centenary auditorium in the University of Madras this evening.
He is also scheduled to release a book authored by BJP leader Arun Shourie 'Self-Deception: India China Policies.'
