Chennai's new International Terminal to begin operations from Wednesday

Chennai: The New International Terminal at Chennai airport would begin operations tomorrow, Airport Authority of India, said today.

The cost for the construction of the new terminal was about Rs 2,000 crore.

"International departure operations through New International Terminal will commence in a phased manner with the departure of a flight bound for Singapore from tomorrow. Thereafter, all international flights of Indigo, Spice Jet, Jet Airways and Air Austral will operate through NIT", an official release said.

AAI officials undertook a series of inspections in the last two days and found terminal ready for international flight operations, it added.
