Chennai: The DMK in Tamil Nadu is holding a state-wide agitation demanding reinstatement of more than 13000 welfare workers, who were sacked by the Jayalalithaa government.
These contract workers were originally appointed during the DMK regime in 1990. Jayalalithaa kept sacking them everytime she came to power, alleging most workers were DMK cadres.
The DMK, however, kept re-instating them, denying her allegation.
