Do not disturb. Chennai library cancels scheduled weddings
Chennai: The Anna Centenary Library in Chennai will no longer be used for wedding receptions. This is an undertaking given by the Tamil Nadu government to the Madras High Court.

Over the last few months, this library has been rented out to private parties for a slew of functions - ranging from wedding receptions to felicitation events. According to sources, the library was being rented out for Rs 2 lakh for 24 hours.

One of the petitioners who had earlier got a stay on the AIADMK government's decision to convert the mega library - a pet project of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi - into a hospital for children had objected to the library being rented out for such private functions, to spite the previous DMK regime.

The Library had been booked for several private functions till the end of September. All these bookings have now been cancelled.
