How Children in Chennai Are Saving the Ozone Layer

Chennai: Its international week for the preservation of ozone layer and little children from the Akshaya Global School in Chennai did their bit to raise awareness in the city on this crucial issue.

Singing and enacting skits, the little climate champions explained the whys and hows of checking global warming.

Andrew Raj, a class seven student said "Ozone layer protects us from UV rays that can cause cancer".

Megha, a class VI student explained the impact.  "If there's no ozone layer there would be global warming, birds would die" she says.

Aditya, who's in class seven had a message for his parents: "I'd ask them to walk or use by-cycle for short distances, use less of air conditioners".

Organised at a popular mall, the campaign struck a chord with many. For once children turned teachers, adults and parents turned learners.
