Madurai-bound flight returns after a suspected bird-hit

Chennai: A Madurai-bound Jet Airways flight that took off at 10.40 this morning returned to Chennai following a suspected bird hit.

The Jet Airways flight 9W 2343 with 66 passengers on board was just a few minutes away from landing in the temple city when a loud noise was heard.

The pilot decided not to land in Madurai and returned to Chennai, which sources say was better equipped to handle the problem, if any.

The Boeing 737 aircraft landed in Chennai at about 11.20 am after which a thorough check was carried out.

After the 'log and report' entry was made at the Airport, the flight again took off for Madurai.

Although, what caused the noise has not yet been revealed, it is believed that a bird might have hit the plane.
