Morning showers bring down temperature in Chennai

Chennai: Slight morning showers brought some respite to the residents of Chennai from the soaring mercury for the past few days.

According to rainfall statistics recorded at 8.30 am today, many parts of the state received significant amounts of rainfall, with Valparai recording seven cm, followed by Pollachi four cm, Harur and Thali and Pandavaiyar head at three cm each.

The regional weather office forecast partly cloudy skies for Chennai up to Thursday and rain or thundershowers in some areas towards evening or night. Maximum and minimum temperature would be around 36 and 28 degree Celsius respectively.

It also forecast rain or thundershowers at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur over Karnataka and Lakshadweep in the next 24 hours, it added.
