Chennai:
Opposition DMK today alleged that adequate facilities had not been made available for wheel-chair bound party President M Karunanidhi to attend the Assembly and took up the matter with the Speaker.
Party Treasurer and Opposition Leader M K Stalin said that he had asked Speaker P Dhanapal to make adequate arrangements, including seating, for Karunanidhi to have access to the House and participate in its proceedings.
"But the seating has been allotted in the second row where his wheelchair cannot go. Therefore adequate arrangements have to be made for him," Mr Stalin said.
He was speaking to reporters after the House was adjourned for the day following obituary references, including to recently deceased Thirupparankundram AIADMK MLA M Seenivel.
Karunanidhi represents his native Thiruvarur constituency in the 15th Tamil Nadu Assembly, elections for which were held on May 16. The DMK has 89 MLAs in the House
