Saudi airline makes emergency landing at Chennai airport

Chennai: A Jeddah-bound Saudi Airlines plane with about 200 passengers on board today made an emergency landing at Chennai airport after pilots noticed smoke emanating from the cockpit.

Airport sources said the pilots noticed smoke mid-air when the aircraft SV-841 was on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah and it was allowed emergency landing.

The passengers were evacuated to safety, sources said. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay, they said.
