Scaffolding of under-construction metro collapses in Chennai
Chennai: The upcoming metro rail project in Chennai suffered a minor setback today. The scaffolding at the Vadapalani metro station site gave way as concrete was poured to build a ten-feet-long arm on the main pillar.

The accident occurred at the Koyambedu - St Thomas Mount stretch of the Rs 15,000 crore Chennai Metro Rail project. The entire load of liquid concrete fell to the ground.

There have been no reports of any casualties.

Authorities said a bracket failure led to the accident. A senior official told NDTV, "Chennai Metro Rail Limited has ordered a probe and our consultants have been asked to submit a detailed report. We would take all corrective measures".

The trial run for this stretch is scheduled for December next year.
