Senior Chennai Cop Found Hanging In Officers' Mess
The police say no suicide note has been found.
Chennai: A 32-year-old police officer was found hanging in Chennai this morning. N Harish, who was in the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, was found dead in his room at the officers' mess.

The police suspect it could be a case of suicide, but say no suicide note has been found. Mr Harish, a 2009 batch IPS or Indian Police Service officer, was from Karnataka.

He was recently transferred from Madurai.

Officers close to Harish say the officer was suffering from depression as he could not clear the mandatory Tamil proficiency test. Consequently, his promotion as Superintendent of Police was delayed and he remained an Assistant Superintendent of Police even seven years after clearing the IPS.

Officers who know him well also say he had a few personal issues with senior officers.
