Smoke from a dustbin at the domestic terminal of the airport in Chennai created some tense moments before security personnel put it out today.
Around 3.20 pm, smoke was seen emanating from the dustbin near a toilet in the third floor of the terminal. Security personnel found a burning cigarette butt and put it out, averting a possible fire, airport sources said.
Some painting work was on in the area and it was suspected one of the labourers there would have thrown the cigarette butt into the dust bin without putting it out completely.
