Chennai:
If you are wondering how rush hour traffic in Chennai will be hit by the DMK's 'fill the jails' agitation, here are some pointers.
The demonstration and courting of arrest will be held at 22 places in the city. While Karunanidhi is likely to skip the event, his son and party treasurer M.K. Stalin will court arrest in his constituency at Kolathur. Kanimozhi has obtained permission from the CBI Court and will join the agitation probably from Saidapet.
There is little office goers can do to escape the traffic snarls. Three arterial roads are likely to be blocked for a couple of hours, from about 9 am till noon, are: Panagal Building in Saidapet that connects the Airport and Guindy Industrial estate to Mount Road, the DMS complex almost in the heart of Mount Road and the Ezhilagam and War Memorial along Radhakrishnan Road or the Marina Beach Road.
The only shot at reaching offices on time would lie in starting early so that travel after 9 am is avoided.
