Chennai: Four policemen, including three jail wardens, were injured after undertrials attacked them inside the high security Puzhal Central Jail outside Chennai yesterday.
The 10 undertrials, many of them from the Al Umma group, also held officials hostage for a few hours .
The men are accused in murder cases. "We have shifted six of them to other jails in Madurai, Cuddalore, Trichy, Coimbatore and Vellore. "They were angry because of enhanced security that doesn't allow them to use mobile phones or contraband," a senior police official said.
