10-year-old missing, parents suspect foul play

Cuttack: A 10-year-old school boy is suspected to have been kidnapped in Nimasahi area.

The father of the boy has filed a missing case in the police station; the family members allege that a neighbourhood youth has kidnapped the boy.

Abdul Rehaman, studying in Class V, had gone for private tuitions at Friends Colony, a neighbourhood locality on Sunday evening.

Although he was supposed to return home by 9.30 pm, he did not return by 10.30 pm and the boy's father Asaf-ul-Haq lodged a police complaint.

Police said since the boy's father was not at home, a neighbourhood youth Badal, also an acquaintance of the family, offered to drop the boy at the tuition place and also assured that he would pick up the boy after his tuition classes.

"Accordingly, Badal picked up the boy from the tuition but never returned back home. Initially, he did not receive calls on his cellphone and now it says switched off," said the city DCP Praveen Kumar adding that a thorough investigation is going on.
