11-year-old rape survivor fights on in Rajasthan
Sikar: An 11-year-old girl, who was raped by two men in Sikar in Rajasthan six months ago, is still fighting for her life in a Jaipur hospital. The girl has undergone 14 reconstructive surgeries since the incident and is far from recovering.

"The child has undergone many surgeries; the last one has been difficult for the patient," said Dr Chetan Sharma, Superintendent  of the JK Lone Hospital in Jaipur.

The girl had gone out with her family to celebrate Eid on August 20 last year when two men allegedly abducted her from Sikar, 114 kms from Jaipur. She had recently moved there from Bihar after her father's death.

The girl's sister recalls the horrific incident, "They came speeding from behind us and grabbed my sister through the window of the jeep. We ran behind the vehicle shouting, but they sped away."

The girl was allegedly raped and was found unconscious on the road, 20 kms from where she was abducted.

After a public outcry, six men were arrested in the case. The two main accused are still in jail while the others, who provided them shelter and protection after the crime, have been let off on bail.

The girl is currently in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Her family has been given a place to stay by the state government.
