16-year-old allegedly raped and killed, three arrested

Cuttack: Three persons were arrested today for the rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found after she went missing from her home in Laxminarayanpur village near Cuttack district last week, police sources said.

The body, bundled in a sack, was found on July 1 in a deserted paddy field under Jagatpur police station area on the outskirts of the city after she went missing on June 29, police sources said.

Three accused, two of them in their teens, were arrested, the sources said. They were arrested under section 364 (kidnapping), 368 (keeping in confinement), 376 (rape), 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code, they said.

Police said one of the accused took the victim to a farmhouse where she was allegedly raped and killed by three of them on Saturday night. The murder weapon was seized from the farmhouse, they said.
