Siliguri: The carcasses of at least 18 wild monkeys were found in a disused Army swimming pool at Bangdoba near Siliguri in Darjeeling district, police said.
"The carcasses of male, female and baby monkeys were found floating in the stagnant water. A post-mortem on six carcasses would be conducted to find the cause of their death," Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Atonu Raha, said.
An Army spokesperson said they would also carry out an investigation into the death of monkeys.
Forest department officials have reached the spot, officials said.
