Coimbatore:
An 18-year old boy was arrested on Monday on charges of rape and assault of a teenage school girl in the city.
Police said the 17-year old girl, a plus one student, had become friends with the boy, while she was visiting her friend's house, in Puliyakulam in the city and later fallen in love with him.
The boy, who managed to take some obscene photographs of the girl with his mobile phone, started blackmailing her and allegedly exploited the girl sexually for the last six months, police said.
As she refused to go with him, the boy alleged beat her with a log a couple of days ago. She then lodged a complaint with the All women police station, along with her grandparents, with whom she was staying at Periyanaicken Palayam on the city outskirts, police said.
Based on the complaint, the boy was arrested and cases of rape and assault registered against him, police added.
