2 killed in Moradabad hospital fire
Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh): Two people were charred to death after a fire broke out at a private hospital in Moradabad in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.

Nikhat (28) and her brother Nadeem (25), who were there to attend to their ailing mother, were burnt alive in the incident that took place at the Vinayak Orthopedics Centre in the Civil Lines area.

"There is an air conditioner in the general ward which caught fire. We were trying to control fire, but it spread within 5 minutes," said Fahim, a hospital staff.

"There was information that there is a fire due to short circuit," said Sunil Kumar, SSP.

Around 30 people were present in the hospital when the incident occurred but all rest of them were safe, police said, adding that the patients were later shifted to another hospital.

Fire engines were rushed to the site and the blaze was doused within an hour, they said.

"A high-level inquiry has been ordered against the hospital administration and all its official documents have been seized," ASP (City) Mahendra Yadav said.
