Mandi: A tumour weighing 21 kg was successfully removed from a 65-year-old woman's ovary at a hospital in Mandi.
Manorma Devi, a resident of Hamirpur District, was operated upon by a team of medical staff at Zonal Hospital yesterday.
The operation was headed by Gynaecologist Kapil Sharma, who said that a team comprising two doctors and four nurses conducted the operation, which successfully ended within one-and-half-hour.
According to Dr Sharma, the patient was having a big tumour in her ovary and the problem was so acute that she was unable to breath properly as the mass was compressing her lungs. Had she not come to hospital, she would have died within few months, he said.
The patient is now stable after the operation and will be discharged after seven days.
