Rourkela:
In a joint raid by excise and police personnel on several eating and country liquor outlets, 261 litres of liquor were seized and 12 persons including four women vendors arrested here, excise sources said today.
The liquor seized included foreign liquor, country liquor and raw materials of manufacturing liquor. All arrested were produced before a local court which remanded to judicial custody for two weeks today.
In another raid by forest officials in a rented house in Chhend colony, wooden log worth about Rs 3 lakh were also seized and two persons were arrested in this connection.
The original businessman was, however, absconding. A case has been registered and the arrested persons were forwarded to a local court which remanded them to judicial custody for two weeks.
