Gwalior: A two-year-old boy who fell into a 200-foot borewell in Gwalior last evening has died. Rescuers trying to save him had spotted a snake in the pit while monitoring him through a CCTV camera.
Abhay Pachauri was returning from his farm in a village in Gwalior with his grandmother when he accidentally slipped into the borewell. According to officials, he was stuck at a depth of 25-30 feet.
As his grandmother raised alarm, locals rushed to help them. Soon, the police and administration were alerted and Border Security Force personnel were called in to take charge of the operation.
Rescuers had dug a parallel hole near the borewell and managed to pull him out after over 20 hours. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Praying for the boy's safety, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier said in a tweet, "Serious efforts are on by the rescue team to save the child. Doctors are also present at the spot and I pray for the long life of Abhay, who fell in a borewell in Kheria village."
