31 detonators seized from man's car in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Police are on high alert following the arrest of a man on Thursday and the recovery of 31 detonators from his car near Nadiad in Kheda district. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the Independence Day function here on August 15.

Bhavesh Dasharath Patel, 24, was intercepted on the outskirts of Nadiad town, 70 km from Gandhinagar, while he was on his way to Balasinor village late on Thursday evening. A search of his car led to the seizure of 31 detonators, police said.

The seizure comes in the backdrop of a threat to blow up the Krishna Temple of Dakor, located 35 km from Nadiad.

An anonymous letter was received threatening a terror attack at the temple Aug 15. The letter was received by the temple trust and passed on to police.

"Patel brought these detonators from Balasinor village and had kept them in his home for the night. He was carrying them to pass them onto some people when he was intercepted," a police official said.
