Thane:
Five teenage boys, who had together gone for a late evening walk, have gone missing from a village in Murbad taluka of Thane district, police said.
The minors have gone missing since the evening of June 17, police sub-inspector Ramesh Gaikwad of Murbad police station said.
The boys-- Umesh Dattatraya Wagh (13), Durvesh Namdeo Thackeray (15), Pritesh Jayant Khutare (15), Yogesh Tukaram Thackeary (15) and Sopan Deepak Thakeray (13)-- did not return home, after they went for a walk together on late Friday evening.
"These boys are students of a local school. Their parents carried out a search, but approached the police today after they failed to trace the boys,"Sub-inspector Gaikwad said.
An offence under IPC section 363 (kidnapping) has been registered and five police teams have been formed to find the boys, he added.
"Police have taken serious cognisance of the case and teams have been dispatched in search of the children," the police officer said.
The sudden disappearance of the boys has created panic among Sasne villagers, police said.
